“Knowing you are losing a tooth is quite traumatic especially as a dental hygienist who was not supposed to lose a tooth! I have been a dental hygienist for 30 years and truly know the importance of a full dentition not only for esthetics but also for long-term function. Needless to say, I did everything possible to save a molar tooth that had begun to give me pain when chewing and during temperature changes. This tooth had developed an abscess/infection and was initially treated with root canal therapy. After a few different antibiotics and a treatment a retreatment of the root canal, I was still not able to resolve the infection and discomfort. I consulted with Dr. Worley and debated the options. We decided that in order to resolve the infection and preserve the bone around the tooth, it would be best to remove the tooth and place a single root implant in its place. As traumatic as that sounded to me about losing the tooth, Dr. Worley and his supportive staff truly helped calm my fears because now I was “the patient” and not the “dental care provider”. For the extraction of the tooth I did opt for IV sedation which went very smoothly. I waited for the extraction site to heal just a few weeks. I really felt so confident with Dr. Worley’s treatment plan and the great care from his staff that I had the implant placed with only localized anesthetic. I know it is hard to believe but I really had no discomfort during the appointment or afterwards. It almost was so easy I could not believe it either. After Dr. Worley checked a number of weeks later and gave me the go ahead, I had my dentist make the crown on top of the implant and now I have totally regained the use of this molar. I brush and floss just like I do for all the rest of my teeth. I sometimes even forget it is an implant. As a dental hygienist I always try to help my patient keep all of their natural teeth but sometimes things happen that are beyond our control and there is the unfortunate circumstance that teeth must be removed. The implant is most definitely the best way to replace those missing teeth. I do my best to share my experience with patients so they will not be afraid to consider the implant as an option. “We have known Dr. Worley for quite some time as our first introduction was the extraction of my daughter’s wisdom teeth. While she was a bit nervous and certainly apprehensive about being put to sleep, Dr. Worley gave her confidence in the procedure and it was painless with virtually no swelling (important to a teenager). Now she is 21 and in fact, just had foot surgery the other day and recalled the kind/painless treatment of Dr. Worley as the model for the foot surgeon to follow. “I was referred to Dr. Worley by my general dentist for replacement of a bridge that broke and needed a replacement that would cover 4 teeth on the upper left side of my mouth. It involved a bone graft because my sinus cavity was too low to the bone line. I came in to talk with Dr. Worley on the first appointment he explained a lot of what would happen and his options for a solution one of which would save a lot of money. I appreciated that opportunity to have those two solutions presented. The surgery was very easy. Dr. Worley put me to sleep and I did not feel anything. I woke up later with no significant pain. In terms of my recovery I went home, filled my prescription for pain medication and antibiotics. The first week I have very minimal pain only a dull headache, which was not a big deal. A staff member called to check up on me after my surgery. I would recommend anyone to come to Dr. Worley for any type of oral surgery. "The team at Mountain View Oral Surgery & Dental Implants is a really friendly bunch. They speak as you enter the room and greet you with a smile. Truly AMAZING staff led by a gifted surgeon! From start to finish, my son's procedure was a success, but also very comforting for him too. When your 9 and have to have 9 teeth extracted from your mouth, there's not much excitement in that venture. Given the fact that 4 had already been pulled by another doctor without full sedation, that makes the nerves all the more uneasy. Dr. Worley and his team exceeded our expectations in every area of professionalism, education of procedure, outcomes as what to expect, comfort of our son and most of all a genuine concern for his well being. Dr. Worley came highly reccomended from several family members who were former patients, both of which are physicians and can value the level of training, expertise and wisdom with which he practices medicine and runs his practice.
